However, he has made amazing throws this year. many just as good as in the playoff run in 2007. the difference is the running game. which brings me to my next 3 points.

2. brandon jacobs must play like he never talked to tiki barber. supposedly, brandon jacobs talked to tiki barber one day and tiki told bj to think about his future and avoid some of the big hits he's accustomed to giving as well as receiving (more of the former). I believe that this has left a lasting impression on him that has been detrimental to his play and, most importantly, his team. he has on way too many occasions avoided big hits in order to try to tip-toe around tackles, which he is not very adept at doing since he goes does very easily when someone hits his legs (probably b/c his legs are so long and it is hard to chop and get your legs under you when you are 6 foot 5). he NEEDS to run with his pads in front of him ready to launch a would-be tackler that is, most likely, not as big as him. SO PLEASE BRANDON, stop running the ball like you are tiki and run the ball like the mac-truck you used to be. now on to the next guy.

3. ahmad bradshaw must not be as agressive as he usually is. I know this goes against what I jsut said about brandon but there are very obvious, at least to me, disadvantages when he tries to go for the extra yard(s). for one, he is prone to fumbles from hits from behind. that is obvious. and second, he is not helping his ankles when he is twisting his body when someone is grabbing his legs. at times, he has the mindset that BJ needs and BJ has the mindset that ahmad needs. and next, the unknown variable.

4. dartrell johnson must play his heart out. he has not had many carries. but from what i've seen, he reminds me of a derrick ward. he runs hard and he's quick. in my mind, he can be very explosive and he can be a 3rd down and short type of back the giants have been missing since DW (not DJW) left the team. he's small enough to fit in small holes and he is powerful enough to hit the holes for positive yardage.

5. the specials teams needs to not suck. the punts have been awful of late and the field goal kicking by tynes has been suspect. I feel like he misses 1 fg a game in close games. if he made the field goal against the the chargers and the field goal against the cowboys in the first game of the series, they would have either won the game or have coasted to victory.

6. bill sheridan must keep the dallas offense guessing, something that opposing offenses have not been doing in the last 6 games. he has been telegraphing plays way before the snap so that the QB can rely on his check-offs. it was said that sheridan was going to keep the same type of defense that spags did but the only big change would be to simplify it. i knew that was the wrong thing to change. if anything, make it more complex. QBs and offensive coordinators' jobs are to dissect the defense and predict what will happen. this job is only made easier when you make the defense as dissectable as a dead frog with it's appendages pinned to a desk and the scalpel and other tools made readily accessible. kenny phillips absence has been a big loss but it shouldnt be this big. he is just one man out of 11 on the field. other teams have been fine when they lost a big playmaker on their defense, especially their safeties (i.e. polamolu and sanders). losing antonio pierce was a big loss but, quite frankly, he was not at the top of his game. he is getting slower and he was not stellar. so it is up to your feeble hands bill sheridan to prove me wrong when I say that you are not the right man for the job... just like the next man I am going to talk about.

7. kevin gilbride must change something. he has run the same offense ever since he was hired. he runs the same plays, the same formations, even the same snap count. i have been saying this since he was hired but im going to say it again: why dont the giants run a hb screen in every game? at least one. come on. i can see ahmad bradshaw going for a 80 yard screen in my mind when eli is getting blitzed to hell but no. they only go for screen passes when they are like 3rd and 13. it not only is effective in yardage but it also makes the defense think twice before blitzing. just one f-ing screen pass a game, please. and please dont let BJ run around the corner. can we just run off tackle or counters with him please. no more tosses, especially from shotgun. the more tape there is of this offense, the more attackable it is.

8. jonathan goff must play out of his mind. he, from what i have heard will be the starting middle linebacker. a lot was made about him when the giants drafted him and if he didnt get injured, im sure he would have been starting right now (maybe not as ML but next to antonio and boley). he must play fast and call the right plays. im sure he's seen a lot of tape of romo and the cowboys so he must remember the footage during games.

9. aaron ross is going to be playing at least some safety this game. he did play some safety in college so it is not a complete overhaul. but i dont know why but i trust him. last year he got beat on more than one occasion and since he's safety it will be much harder to beat him. also, his hammy will do much better when he doesnt have to do the grueling work of a CB chasing WRs. i dont think he will knock miles austin out of the game but he might make some big plays with his speed.

10. justin tuck must play like he did in the super bowl when everything was on the line like this game is playing out to be. he is the best we have on the line. he is very good on the run and pass. he must take advantage of canty's new starting role to go after romo and collapse the pocket. i think he will have a FF and at least 1.5 sacks on the game. he makes QBs pay for waiting too long in the pocket and i think romo will be susceptible when the pocket collapses, and only if the pocket collapses. otherwise, he will run out of the pocket and create something with witten.

11. osi umenyiora must use this game to announce that he is still one of the premier DEs in the game. he will be in the 2nd rotation but i sont put much into that. I believe they are trying to keep at least one of the two (osi and tuck) in the game at all times. so this is a way to get it done. he must improve on his run defense but i also think he will have a good game and come away with at least 1 sack.

in my estimate, i think the giants will prevail, not b/c of the cowboys awful record in december but b/c the giants will out play them. and i hope the giants will think this before and after their win in the meadowlands

out,
daedae

giants vs. cowboys round 2

depresed

this week has flown by just as fast as i would like it to have but then again, time is flying by too fast. it feels like just yesterday i was getting wasted in my house during my senior year of college. I will never forget that house. I wish there were more photos. i really really wish there were more photos. i wish i could remember it more clearly. so many wishes a genie couldnt help me. the plain old house on raleigh street in rochester, new york was the place where i had, probably, the best time of my life, up til now. 197 raleigh street. i found it my junior year when most of my future housemates were abroad. glenn and hoyt were in barcelona. aeds was in chile or argentina, somewhere spanish. dygger was somewhere spanish but i dont remember where, i think it was spanish. and fisher and i werent friends just yet. I found the place with wilkins and laura. it's a simple white house with a black and white awning (did i spell that right?) and a nice little porch. It had a nice driveway to the back with a 2 car garage that was full of shit. there were 6 rooms including the basement room, 3 and a half bathrooms if u include the basement toilet, a nice living room area, 3 kitchens, and a huge tv that was the focal point of the house.
In my time living in that house, i lived in 3 rooms of that place: the basement room, one of the rooms next to the living room (a tough place to live in the winter b/c the wall was paper thin), and a room on the second floor (the house had 3 floors). Of all of the rooms I lived in, my favorite had to be the one on the first floor, next to the living room. that was the hot bed of action. we, including our housemates that didnt pay rent (wilkins and arthur), hung out there, watching tv, smoking cigarettes and the ganj, drinking, sleeping, studying, going on the internet, making fun of each other, playing darts for favors and money, talking shit, playing xbox (winning eleven ruined my life for at leat 3 months), talking about what happened the night before, trying to piece together the previous night, and the like. this is what i miss the most. these guys are my brothers to the end. i will never forget the times we spent together. through the good and the bad, we made shit happen. i love u guys, no homo.
FOR THE NEXT COUPLE OF ENTRIES, I AM GOING TO TRY TO DETAIL THE GREAT TIME I HAD AT THE HOUSE OF BROKEN DREAMS AS SOME OF US CALLED IT. IF U CAN HELP ME, PLEASE HELP ME REMEMBER.

scooter accident and more

I was looking forward to this weekend because during this week, i had a swine flu scare. I came down with flu-like symptoms on monday afternoon/night. I decided to try to sleep it off but i still felt ill on tuesday. So I took the day off so that I wouldnt potentially get any of my students sick. I went to the doctor and he prescribed me some medicine for my symptoms but he told me not to worry. Whatever I had, my god-like immune system fought it almost completely off. So after about 24 hours, I was back to my sexy self. I really enjoyed the day off too. I got to spend some time with baxter which is always good.
On friday, after I got off of work at 9:30, I took baxter for his daily night walk, fed him, etc. Then I headed over to tom and caitlin's apartment in buldang-dong. We drank beer, watched sin city (one of my favorite movies of all time), and just hung out.
ON saturday, I headed over to Seoul after I left baxter at the vet's "hotel" (which is basically a kettle). I feel bad but I cant take him to Seoul. he simply does not fit in any bag that I have and if I want to buy a doggy bag for him, it's gonna cost about $100. Also, it looks like a baby carriage. How ridiculous would that be? Soooo, I digress. I took the KTX train (it goes about 300 km/hr = super fast) so I got ot Seoul in the usual 37 minutes. I met up with Boram at dongdaemun but it took a while to meet up because she took her scooter and it ran out of gas on the way. Regardless, Dongdaemun is a part of seoul where a lot of ppl go to shop for clothes and basically anything u need. Since I have recently been on a shopping state of mind , we decided to do a little clothes shopping. I got a nice blue hoody and a nice giordano striped blue, white, and black shit. It was a good day. Also, I was able to haggle the lady down 17,000 won for the sweater (got it for 32,000 won). Excellent. We met up with Song-ee (boram's college friend) and her german boyfriend. Song-ee is a great girl and we've known each other for almost as long as I have known boram. Her boyfriend is a really nice guy. He's handsome (not as much as me obviously) and very friendly. We talked about beer, korean living, etc. Boram wanted to change before we went out to drink and whatnot later that night and she had to do something for her dad so we decided to go to her neck of the woods. But, we needed to get gas first and then go. However, she left the paper her dad gave her to type out at her school (she had to teach that day). Sooo we had to go to her school and then her home after we got gas and fueled her scooter. We fueled the pink scooter of hers and we went to her school where she did what she had to do. Next we needed to go to her home but on the way we needed to fill her tank up properly because we just filled it up with a little before. This is where it gets nasty. We are riding on the scooter (me on the back obviously) and there is a car that made a left turn signal way before the street. Boram thought that it was taking the turn at the big street and not the alley so she tried to speed by it but it turned and clipped us. Everything happened so fast. I just remember hitting the ground and seeing boram kind of slide a little on the pavement. I had no time to react to the immense amount of pain i was in. I terrified for boram. Thank god she was wearing her helmet (I didnt have one). I immediately got up and asked her if she was all right but she wouldnt answer. She looked like she was ok, as in no blood and no screaming, but she wouldnt answer. The people got out of their cars and the one that was driving was in shock. A man in the car came over and asked me if I was alright and he moved the scooter to the sidewalk a minute later. While I was standing over boram asking if she was ok, I felt a huge rush of pain coming from my knee and the back of my forearm. But it wasn't like a breaking of bone pain. boram finally came to and she got up from the ground and was sitting up. Thank god she wasnt seriously hurt. She hit her head on the ground but the helmet protected her head. She would later feel whiplash pains as did I. I dont know how I didnt hit my head on the pavement. That is besides me. But when we hit the ground, my knee got pinned between the pavement and the scooter. Writing this now, I still have pain in my left knee. I cant really walk. I have to keep my leg straight when I do or my knee starts hurting. Oddly though, I have no problem walking up stairs. It only hurts when my leg goes back while walking. But back to the story. I have pretty big scrapes on my left forearm and knee and my wrist still hurts (not as much as my knee though). Boram only suffered some mild scrapes on her left upper arm and a little gash near her wrist. Amazing. We could have been in real trouble. The people who ran us over gave us 500,000 won (a little less than $500, more than what boram paid for her scooter) and they left. Woohoo! We went to a nearby pharmacy and the pharmacist was nice enough to dress our wounds. Boram, if u are reading this, I love u and stop telling me ur sorry when u see me limp. Like i said before, we are going to be laughing about this later. There was some minor damage to the scooter but nothing that is completely necessary to its running, just scratches and a hubcab fell off. Boram's watch got real scratched up :(. After this, I told boram, "we are definitely going to eat meat for dinner." So she went home, got dressed, put the scooter away, and came to where I was. We met up with Song-ee and her bf and we ate delicious pork. It's my favorite pork barbecue place in Korea. For four of us to eat healthy portions and a bottle of soju and a wine-type soju, it cost us 28,000 won (about $25). Ridiculous. it is so cheap to eat in korea. Then, me and boram went to shinchon (still in Seoul) and we got a motel room for 60,000 won (about $50). It's got a big flat screen lcd, a computer with the internet, a big bed, free drinks in the fridge, a water cooler, AC, and a nice bathroom. what else can u ask for? we laid in bed for a while just relaxing and nursing our wounds. then, we went to hongdae to meet up with tom, caitlin, and her friends, one of which was her birthday. I got a rusty nail (so fucking strong) and boram got a long island. We left that bar after one drink and went to a stand that sells cocktails in plastic bags. Pretty sweet invention. public intoxication is not illegal, rather enouraged. haha. Then we went to a bar/club where we drank a couple of drinks and danced a little (i could only dance a little because of my leg). then, me and boram went to mcdonalds and then home.
on sunday, me and boram ate this korean chicken dish thats spicy but brown. it's pretty good but not my favorite (it's called dak-jjim) but it is one of boram's favorite. Before that, we went to uni-qlo, one of my favorite places to buy clothes in korea and i bought boram a nice black skirt/dress. It can be either depending on what u feel like. Very versatile. And I got her a a nice red hoody. Very cute. All of this was very cheap too ( 20,000 won for the hoody and 40,000 won for the dress). I got myself a blue polo shirt on sale for (10,000 won) and a green plain shirt (5,000 won). Then we went to seoul station so that I could take a train home. We got a nice coffee bing-soo (ice shaved with coffee, corn flakes, nuts, and sweet red beans). I dont really like it in general but this was very good. A nice ending to a nice, but dangerous weekend.

daecheon

I went to a city on the East Sea this weekend with Boram, Caitlin and Tom. Caitlin and Tom are two teachers I work with and they are a cute couple. Good friends + good environment = happy times, right? well, in this case, it was good friends + cloud + rain + booze = great time. We got there on saturday. It was cloudy but not that bad. So after we dropped our stuff off at the super cheap, super sweet place we were staying at (only for Seoul pubic school teachers(my girlfriend is one so we got to stay there)), we went to the beach. The water was sooo warm and there werent many people there so it ws totally nice. Boram bought a floating bed and a float that u kinda looks like a vest for me so I can enjoy the water since I cant swim. It was so much fun. I enjoyed being in the water. Couldnt help but think of the time me and my friends went to one of our friend's lake house in lake george. But, we decided to go home at around 5:30 because it was getting a little chilly. We went home, showered, and went out for some sashimi and booze. WE went to this sweet place that gave out a lot of side dishes and we started drinking beer and soju (just me and boram because tom and caitlin got sand in their vaginas at the beach). after we had our fill, we went walking on the "boardwalk" area and decided to get some beer and drink on the beach. At the beach, they have lights pointed out to the beach so the water looks like a scene from a movie. pretty sweet. WE enjoyed some illegal fireworks and tom got to enjoy his yoyo that he won playinga carnie game. we got nice and beered up and we had to leave because it started to rain slightly. On our way home, we went carnie game crazy. I played the basketball one and got a nice bear and I got a nice fat pink piggy (he looks like the pig from the simpson's movie) from the dart game where u have to hit small blown up balloons (it's an impossible game to lose at). We probably spent about 20,000 won (about $15 give or take) on these games, but it was so much fun. On our way home, I started to black out. we got some beer for the condo. I dont really remember the walk home so much. But i do remember most of the time we spent at the condo. Apocalypto was on so we got to watch some of that and the man u game was on so we watched some of that. Then, I remember being naked in the condo singing songs about how i was naked (no one was in the living area of the condo to see but they definitely heard me). When we woke up, there was obviously some hangovers to get over but we left at about the check-out time (11am). All in all, a very nice trip to a very nice city. I hope it doesnt rain when we go again because it rained both times i went there.

long time coming

it's been a while i know
so i'll try to keep these posts coming but i cant keep any promises (thank you joseph)

so on my list of things to talk about, the one that stands out the most at this hour (11:57pm on a tuesday night) is big papi ... fuck that guy
he said that he was clean but we (all) believed him. look at the numbers and it's pretty obvious. it is me and the rest of the sports fanatic society that believe what we want... we cannot give in to the real, substantial truth. Rather, we believe what we believe, if that makes any sense. Belief is, in my book, found not in fact but in very disputable "evidence." Now, the best way i can describe this, at this time (i am drinking a "1.5L" jug of beer and i have been, how do u say?, pounding it), is believing in Santa Claus. When we were all very young, we believed in Santa Claus as if we saw him ourselves. This is similar to the late '90s when the likes of Sammy Sosa and Mark McGuire were juicing as if steroids were marijuana and they were seth rogen and james franco (everytime i think of slammin sammy i remember seeing him getting ready for his turn at a home run derby when i was in middle school. he was in the walkway in the dugout flinging his bat like it was a wand). No one thought the wiser. And then a few years pass and then our older brother tells us that santa claus is not real. This is similar to the early-mid 2000s when the Mitchell report and such were coming out. We still didnt believe. We only knew some of the "facts" had to be true but that didnt mean that the entirety was true. and then now and the upcoming years are like the years in high school, college, and up when we KNOW santa claus isn't real. We start questioning everything, i.e. God, Jesus, the moon landing, etc. Such a sad time. When people don't believe and when we only trust things we can perceive with our senses... and still, we, at times, do not believe in such things. Instead, we eventually come to grips with the old adage that you can only trust yourself. how fucked up is that. This has had a very negative influence on my "belief" in sports. I heard on a podcast of bill simmons' that mike piazza had horrible bacne... one of the people i "believed" in the most in what i consider the "hayday" of the recent mets (i can still hea the chants of "i still believe"). Those years made me love the sport more than any other. i didnt care that i might be one of the only mets supporters in my town. The mets were a part of me. now what do i think? EASY. I stay believing. to me, piazza is clean, just like todd hundley, just like turk wendell (the "workhorse"), just like todd pratt. I know i may be wrong, but I'm not giving up hope.

the mets suck something awful

I am getting tired of the mets playing like shit ...
i knew we shouldnt have resigned Delgado. Like really, I knew he was gonna get injured again. Now he's enjoying his money not doing shit... just like last year he's just sitting on his ass
i knew we shouldve tried to get Raul Ibanez ...
David Wright has more pressure to carry the team than last yr, which is hard to believe ...
we should've signed Pedro back ... not only would he give needed help and insurance, he wouldve made the clubhouse more enjoyable to be in and he could give advice to the young players
it's getting to the point where i look at the espn scoreboard expecting a lopsided score not in favor of my beloved mets.
Please, Omar Minaya, get your ass in gear and do something...
I'm down with anything... trade David Wright for a load of talent... Trade Johan for a bunch of talent... waiting for the injured players to come back just isnt cutting it... everyday we are sending out a triple A team plus David Wright

before i book a flight back to new york to stalk minaya, i'm gonna change the subject
Baxter, my puppy (he's going on 6 months and he's fat) is so cute. he makes living easy (besides the fact that he chews up my glasses from time to time). i took him for a nice walk before it rained (again) and he was so exhausted. he could barely get up the stairs... when he got inside, he drank some water and took a nap

well, thats it for now, gotta be with the pup
